video screen grabDrones were one of the hot topics coming into CES, but the tlargest U.S.-based drone manufacturer, 3D Robotics, didn’t even have a booth at the show. Instead, 3D Robotics CEO Chris Anderson – the former editor-in-chief of Wired — toured the city with a drone in his backpack.

Chris talks about how their programming ability (and programmability) will enable the development of software to meet the needs of specific verticals. He says that the FAA isn’t holding them back yet, because right now the market is primarily consumer. He shares his vision about the transition from a consumer product to ever-smaller “single button” commercial solutions. (i.e. I don’t want to buy a drill, I want to buy the hole.) Smart, articulate guy – worth a listen.
