Global Aerospace, a leading provider of aerospace insurance, is pleased to announce the development of DroneGuardSM, an insurance program for members of the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI).
The program will be underwritten through Global Aerospace and was developed in conjunction with Willis Programs, a niche market administrator, and AUVSI.

Detailed information about the program’s benefits and how it can be accessed will be announced at AUVSI’s XPONENTIAL conference in New Orleans in May 2016.
Perfect time to launch given that XPONENTIAL is right around the corner. Details are pretty scanty but a visit to the DroneGuard website makes a number of things quite clear.
This coverage is subject to underwriting and is only available to AUVSI members. Meaning no guarantee you will be covered, and no one else need apply.
A full menu of covers is offered but there is no mention of cyber and data risk.
The DroneGuard program is available to all retail brokers. Perhaps this is a move to develop the retail channel. Not exactly sure how this works, who for instance is responsible for ensuring AUVSI membership. The application is very standard and does not ask if the applicant is a member – an oversight I imagine will be remedied shortly.
